Blazers: Pastels & Brights

If the weather’s any indication, Spring is on the brink of  ’springing.’ Blazers are one of those essential elements to any wardrobe, but it’s also time to ditch the black and navy blue variations for pastels and brights. Pink, orange, yellow, green and blue take on sorbet and shocking shades this season, making for key winter to spring transition pieces to get you started. The sorbet shades add a layer of structured delicacy, I have the urge to wear them with black or white lace dresses. I’m utterly in love with the mint green A.L.C Zoe Blazer, it’s sharp yet sweet. As for the brights, these blazers are beckoning to be paired with more bright colors. I love the idea of mixing a bright lemon yellow sheer blouse or a pale floral dress with the fuchsia Elizabeth and James Pink Sue Worsted Wool Blazer. The fuchsia is so beautiful and bright, the color ups the ante and makes my skin glow.

The brights and pastels will help spice up your favorite pieces from last season, but mixing them together will give you the ultimate spring time look.

The Fantastic Four: Creme & Color

I love how spring brings out the vibrancy in colors, and with the temperature heating up there’s no time like the present to mix in a bit of brightness into your wardrobe. Although white is regarded as the summer staple for it’s crispness and ability to maximize even the tiniest glint of a tan, cream is the shade that I find maximizes my summer shading without all the cons of white. Between the necessity for bleaching, the fear of staining and the legend that white makes you look ‘fatter,’ who needs it? Mixing cream with bright colors is going to be one of my favorite go-to pairings for spring, it may even become an everyday sort of thing.

[1] I know it’s slightly crazy, I mean it’s a flamingo on your arm for fashion’s sake, but something about the hot pink flamingo’s body adds just the right amount of energy to the cream Kate Spade Jezibel handbag. It’s definitely ‘out there’ but I love it just the same. [2] The holy grail of fashionable shoes, Christian Louboutin, knows the way to a girls heart this summer. The blue suede and cream nappa leather on the Mago court shoes are utterly to die for on those signature red soles. [3] Spring and summer call for cute skirts, and I’m not talking barely there minis. For the sophisticated and flirty, this Milly Justene Plissé Border skirt, with its red and navy geometric shapes, was love at first sight. [4] I’m an obsessive compulsive scarf buyer, perhaps I just like walking around my house with my hair in rollers, wrapped in a scarf, like I’ve suddenly been transported to the sixties and become Betty Draper or Joan Holloway, but I’m coveting this Giselle Garden scarf from Erdem.
