Okay so I have to say this, short and sweet: Idris Elba is one fine specimen of a man. Seen here at the Giorgio Armani Menswear Spring Summer 2012 show with Dwayne Wade, Carmello Anthony and Giorgio Armani himself. Aside from the fact that Wade could use a facial peel, since I’m not sure what the heck that is on his forehead, and Carmelo Anthony’s trousers seem to be a little ill-fitting. Between Idris and Dwayne’s smiles I’m a little more than smitten. But as for Idris, in the words of that VH1 show, Single Ladies, that I’m now dubbing a guilty pleasure, “He could get it.”
Perhaps I’m a little bit of a tech nerd, but I find this ingenious use of floppy disks to be art I’d like to have in my house. Maybe I’d better save this for my computer room or office, because it’s too nerdy cool for almost anywhere else. The generation after me will never really know the ‘pleasure’ of using a floppy disk that happened to erase all of my files because I accidentally moved the sliding silver thing. I can remember playing games on my computer that required these odd square anomalies, and I never thought I’d find them the least bit attractive. This is a use for floppy disks I can get behind, and we can all thank the genius of Nick Gentry. The British artists paintings take shape on an original sort of canvas. He’s also used VHS, polaroids, and cassettes. Putting to use all of the things I’ll probably never use again, regrettably.

Red carpet or orange, Selena Gomez is always hitting my best dressed list, and it’s between that and the fact that she’s a bonafide sweetheart that she’s become one of my favorite young Hollywood stars. Selena would be a dream to style and her willingness to play with color is so refreshing. Although I’m still wondering if she managed to get out of the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards unscathed by the signature green goop I loved everything about her outfit, except for her tootsies that were in need of a pedicure. Selena took over the orange carpet at LA’s Galen Center with her usual, fresh and beautiful presence.
Large feather print organza panelled front sleeveless blouse from Christian Cota. Hot pink nails & a turquoise & amethyst ring (currently searching for something similar to this shade & the ring). The new IT bag, the Lauren Merkin ‘Lucy’ Clutch & a simple purple stone bracelet. Christian Cota textured circuit jacquard cuffed flat front shorts. Camilla Skovgaard turquoise ankle point strap sandals.
I’ve loved Keira Knightley ever since Pirates of the Caribbean, but I really couldn’t expect the girl to walk around town in corsets all day every day. These days the face of Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle is sporting this undone, slouchy biker chick look that adds to her allure. Her unkempt bob and insanely stunning bone structure make just about every look come off effortlessly. Here she is strolling around in London today at The Comedy Theatre in my favorite leather jacket from Burberry Prorsum. She pulls together a few simple pieces like a pair of distressed straight leg blue jeans and a slouchy ‘greige’ cashmere sweater as a canvas for the ensemble. The only thing that’s left is to add in a pair of moss green ankle boots and a rope necklace to finish off this sort of tomboy gamine look.
With the split from Zac Efron to the latest leaking of sexy photos, I know not what to make of Vanessa Hudgens. I also, as it happens don’t know what to make of this Jenny Packham dress from the Sucker Punch premiere last night at the Grauman’s Chinese Theater in LA. I hate the front but love the back of this Jenny Packham dress, the cut is super sexy, but something is off. Even coupled with her signature smoky eye, the whole ensemble just doesn’t pop. But I love her trademark curly updo and her accessories. This look pulls me in several different directions, but the more I stare at it, the more I like it. Maybe it’s more important whether or not I’m going to enjoy the film, and that is to be determined this weekend.
Some people call her a Jennifer Lopez in the making, but this young star has talent and style well beyond her years, talent that I wouldn’t necessarily compare to JLo. I’m on the hunt for her dove gray eyelet top but I can’t find anything like it anywhere, but her cute Tibi Antoinette Bloom skirt happens to be on sale for $185.00 right now. The kitten heels and stockings add just the perfect little touches to this ensemble. She kind of looks like this dainty but edgy doll that plays on the model of the Antoinette Bloom doll that the skirt seems to be named after.
