Yeah I Said It: Idris Elba, Dwayne Wade & Carmelo Anthony at the Giorgio Armani Menswear SS 2012

Okay so I have to say this, short and sweet: Idris Elba is one fine specimen of a man. Seen here at the Giorgio Armani Menswear Spring Summer 2012 show with Dwayne Wade, Carmello Anthony and Giorgio Armani himself. Aside from the fact that Wade could use a facial peel, since I’m not sure what the heck that is on his forehead, and Carmelo Anthony’s trousers seem to be a little ill-fitting. Between Idris and Dwayne’s smiles I’m a little more than smitten. But as for Idris, in the words of that VH1 show, Single Ladies, that I’m now dubbing a guilty pleasure, “He could get it.”

Pick Three: Reiss

Pick Three : Reiss

Everyone’s been buzzing about Reiss, in great part because of Kate Middleton (the Duchess of Cambridge) and the stunning nude dress she caused to sell out. Picking my top three pieces from Reiss was a feat, it came down to just cutting myself off from clicking. Reiss is simplistic and refined, the brand exudes a sex appeal that makes it easy to dress the part of the coquettish flirt.

#1

Florida Paisley Jumpsuit;
I saw someone wearing this earlier this week and I have to admit I’ve been trolling online for it since. Thankfully my clothing search skills are astute enough to get the job done because this paisley jumpsuit is the epitome of summer.
Available at Reiss.com for $210.00.

#2

Drew Slim Leather Bracelet;
I’m obsessed with simple leather bracelets, and I’m not sure why. The emerald green hue makes me all giddy, and to tie it off with the silver metal accents makes it all the more beautiful.
Available at Reiss.com for $50.00.

#3

Cedar Cognac Wood Platform Sandals;
Of all the things I’m a sucker for a pair of brown, woody heels tops that list. I love the cognac leather criss-cross details. Although my summer tan hasn’t quite gotten started, I’m looking forward to the way these heels will look when I get that shade of bronze.
Available at Reiss.com for $310.00.

Pick Three: Elie Saab

Pick Three: Elie Saab

When I think of Elie Saab I often remember my favorite red carpet looks, it’s a label that speaks to an elevated sort of elegance. Taking classic silhouettes and styles and doing them well, in lush fabrics and with a dash of je ne sais quoi, Elie Saab is the epitome of class. Take a few basic colors and add in a few more interesting shades to the palette is what I love most about it.

#1

LK6 Belt;
Yes, of course I love the color, but it’s something else about this belt that could possibly be one of those accessories that can transform any outfit. It’s not an average belt by any means, and weather it holds your pants or skirt up isn’t the question. I’m infinitely more interested in how many outfits I can create with this belt as the focal point. .
Available at Boutique1.com for $205.00.

#2

Wide Leg Trousers;
They’re super wide-legged pants but it’s not enough that they’re a pair of trousers, I love that they sort of deceptively look like a skirt. I love the classic silhouette that beckons back to the 70s, I totally want to wrap my hair in a scarf and slip on a paisley top with over-sized sunglasses for the full effect..
Available at Boutique1.com for $1,444.00.

#3

Peep-toe Slingbacks – Olive;
I love the stacked heel inter-weaved with the olive leather suede. I’m not usually a fan of olive but this color grows on me every time I look at these pumps. The elements of wood grounds these slingbacks in a sort of natural simplicity.
Available at Boutique1.com for $572.00.

Pick Three: Alexander McQueen

Pick Three: Alexander McqueenThe Alexander McQueen label is the talk of the fashion town, be it because of the Royal Wedding or the Met exhibit and Vogue Gala to follow. The McQueen label is famed for its ability to always make a dramatic statement, and while Kate Middleton Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge’s dress was the antithesis of that image, everyone is still raving about the fairytale princess gown Sarah Burton created.

#1

Embroidered Fin Mini-Dress;
Ordinarily this would be a plain shift dress, but the beauty is in the detail. I love the cut at the end of the shoulder, the lace is polished and a tad bit princessy but the shoulder slits and mini skirting give it a sexy edge.
Available at AlexanderMcQueen.com for $5,925.00.

#2

Britannia Studded Clutch;
I feel like uttering “God save the Queen”, or something like it; this clutch is an ode to Britannia with the quintessential McQueen skull. The original red, white and blue, accented by a few gold studs is a definite statement piece.
Available at Zappos.com for $1,950.00.

#3

Sculpted Resin and Leather Sandals;
The leaf details on these shoes are intensely ethereal. I feel like they’re the perfect pair of heels for a nymph or a fairy – they’re defiantly fantastical. They’re works of art and I’m definitely coveting them deeply.
Available at Net-a-Porter.com for $3,495.00.

Pick Three: Theory

Pick Three: Theory

In contemporary sportswear few do it like Theory. I love my flamboyant pieces more than most, but there’s something about the simplicity of Theory’s pieces that make them more than adequately covet worthy. The palette is stark and muted, but from the delicacy of the peach hued burn out to the edge that Theory brings to a pair of tiny shorts by using leather, it’s hard not to love this label. You can count on Theory to deliver stellar pieces in flattering silhouettes that pull off avante-garde looks with striking fabric choices.

#1

Derona K Top;
Burnout prints have been relegated to tank tops and tees for the most part so I love the idea of taking this kind of cozy, weathered look and making it sexy and cool. The peachy color and the curve hugging silhouette make it a go too piece I adore.
Available at Theory.com for $130.00.

#2

Brianne Brown Leather Heels;
The heel is relatively short, but there isn’t one other thing about these heels that are meek and mild. My attraction to cut out heels is almost unexplainable, they’re a little bit sexy and they don’t necessarily get thrown into the ‘trendy’ category because they’re a little bit more than a pair of gladiators.
Available at JildorShoes.com for $99.00.

#3

Campbell Leather Shorts;
They’re edgy and sophisticated and perfect in every way for the girl with enough attitude to pull off leather shorts. I’m picturing them with black or floral tights and a punch of cool color like a bright green asymmetrical tank.
Available at My-Wardrobe.com for $907.50.

Creative Corner: Kesh

Designer, artist, photographer, whatever it is you want to call Kesh she’s crazy cool. From working with Vogue to trying her hand at creating her own line, the girl’s got skills and her photography, illustration, and digital art hybrids are beyond inspiring. The British born dynamic artist has taken has relocated to LA so with a little help from some California sunshine, more of her innovative work is about to take root in American soil. I’d love to wear a piece made from a print this jetsetting cool girl created. She’s got a knack for creating artwork that reminds me of M.I.A., her style is the kind of crazy you can’t help but love and her tumblr photo blog is a mecca of fashion and culture inspiration.

If cool needed a definition, she’d be it.

Pick Three: The Row

Pick Three: The Row
Still riding high on their ‘New Talent Award’ nomination from the CFDA, The Row is finally getting some traction in the world of fashion that can’t be ignored by a passe reference to their billionaire status. The Row’s dedication to taking classic pieces and perfecting them is taking the label far, even though there are times when we’re simply not sure what the heck is up with one of the twin’s wardrobe choices. I won’t be naming names. I love the simplicity of each piece and the attention to perfect tailoring, it’s minimalist at its best. These picks in particular play on the contraries of softness and femininity and the harshness of military masculinity, with an added pop of quirky in the sunglasses.

#1

Manchester Twill Jacket;
I love jackets more than words can say, as a girl from the tropics the slightest hint of a breeze means I’m slipping my arms into a sweater, jacket, or something else long-sleeved. I love the strength of olive as a color, and the way it it’ll pair perfectly with the softer colors in my spring palette.
Available at Net-a-porter.com for $1,175.00.

#2

Biggins Silk-Georgette Camisole;
The blush tone is perfect for making my skin look less than sallow, I hate what the winter weather does to my complexion but the blush tone of this camisole picks up the glints of tan that are still there, even if only in my imagination.
Available at Net-a-porter.com for $310.00.

#3

One Shoulder Caftan from Mark + James;
Obsessed with sunglasses as I am, I kind of want to swap out the lenses in these babies and transform them into reading glasses. They’re cute and fun, and they posses that certain ‘je ne sais quoi.’
Available at TheRow.com for $442.00.
